A Star-Spangled Summer: Just For Kids!

In our last article we explored the rides, shows, experiences and foods that make Silver Dollar City’s a Star-Spangled Summer festival an unforgettable all-American family celebration. This time we’re showcasing all of the summer activities available just for kids!

If your kiddos love dogs, then Star-Spangled Summer is the perfect time to bring them to Silver Dollar City. They’ll watch in amazement as this spunky group of rescue dogs performs incredible feats of agility and athleticism at Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience in Red Gold Heritage Hall. They can even meet the superstar pups after the show! (No shows on Wednesdays.)

For even more K-9 cuddles, be sure to head to Fireman’s Landing® to spend some quality time with our own Lucky The Rescue Dog™. He’s on hand in front of Firehouse No. 3 multiple times a day during the summer to greet guests.

More meet and greet fun can be had at the Carousel Barn as kids’ favorite cartoon characters are on hand for hugs, high-fives and adorable photo ops. See the schedule for the full list.

Plus, on select Saturdays, kiddos can even share a delicious breakfast buffet with animation superstars including Michelangelo & Raphael of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on June 16; Scooby Doo & Shaggy on July 7; and SpongeBob SquarePants & Patrick on July 28.

For creative fun this summer, head over to the Frisco Freight Co. Barn where incredible toys, trinkets and hands-on activities like Tangle®, Mad Mattr®, Modarri® Cars, make-your-own slime and more are located.

You’ll find even more activities and merchandise that kids will love just outside the Frisco Barn including design-your-own bath bombs, scrubs and more at The Bath Lab; adorable marionettes at The Puppet Shack; plus, face painting and temporary tattoos.

At Huck’s Hidden Treasure Sluice, located across from Crossroads Pizza, kids can pick up a bag of dirt and a pan, then head to the sluice to start sifting through for precious gold. Make sure they look through every last bit of it. Gold, gems or precious rocks they find are theirs to take home.

Featuring a variety of costumes for girls and boys, the all-new Emmaline's Dress Up Emporium inspires kids to take a journey into their own imaginations, with costumes ranging from princess to pirate, mermaid to astronaut and more! A dressing room is even available so your children can transform into their new looks on the spot and enjoy their new costumes throughout your entire visit.

Insider Tip: Emmaline’s is the perfect place to find gear for the Showboat Branson Belle’s Princess & Pirate Cruises setting sail every Saturday & Sunday in July.

Every girl will want a personalized parasol to go with her new outfit. Just outside of Emmaline's, little ones can choose from large or small parasols in a variety of colors and designs and then have our parasol artists customize it for them.

Other can’t-miss activities for kids of all ages including Storytelling in Half Dollar Holler brought to you by Highlights® Magazine and a daily Cupcake Eating Contest on the Silver Dollar City Square.

Of course, all of this is in addition to Silver Dollar City’s over 40 rides & attractions, delicious family foods and demonstrating craftsmen. Learn more about a Star-Spangled Summer, get tips for bringing kids to the park and start planning your visit today.
