Story Time In Half Dollar Holler

Silver Dollar City has a long history of storytelling. In fact, the park itself is filled with one story after another. Listen to the Homestead Pickers and Aunt Judy at McHaffie's Homestead as they sing and tell tall tales of old. Watch the Street Troupe perform and you’ll hear of the feud between the Hatfields and McCoys. Take a ride on Thunderation and watch as the story of the town of Marmaros is told. Wherever you look, chances are a story is soon to follow.

To pass our love of storytelling on to you and your family, we invite you to stop in and listen to storytelling at Half Dollar Holler. Every day this summer at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30, you can bring your little one to the Highlights™ Storybook Circle and watch their imagination widen as they listen to our storytellers bring entertaining tales to life. Tucked back in the shade, this quiet and quaint area allows kids the chance to experience Fun with a Purpose®. With stories from the classic children’s publication, Highlights, your kids will learn valuable life lessons as they have fun.

Keep the fun going after story time as your kids use their imaginations while they play in Half Dollar Holler. See what they create while at Sand Play and what stories they may come up with. Let them imagine that they are a squirrel or bird as they run and play among the trees on Treetop Trail. Then watch the wonder on their faces as they pretend to ride a real life horse on Hugo and Mary’s Carousel. Whatever your day may bring on park, get ready for the fun to unfold as stories are told.
