Summer Fun Safety

We love having fun, and we love even more when you are having fun! In the midst of all of the fun, we don’t want you to forget about staying safe in the summer heat. Whether you are playing at Silver Dollar City or White Water, here are a few tips to make sure you get the most out of your day.

1. Use Sunscreen

While applying sunscreen may seem like a nuisance, there truly is nothing worse than being sunburned. To avoid the pain and discomfort that is sure to follow if you don’t, apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 15 or higher. Make sure to apply sunscreen 30 minutes prior to going outside, and then reapply every 2 hours or after being in water.

2. Drink Lots Of Water

Hydration is key on hot, summer days. To avoid heat exhaustion and dehydration, make sure to drink plenty of fluids, especially water and sports drinks. Make the kids take a break every 20 minutes to drink something to ensure that everyone stays hydrated and healthy.

3. Dress For The Occasion

Missouri tends to get hot and humid in the summer. Knowing that, come dressed in clothes that are breathable and lightweight. Wear sandals or tennis shoes that you know fit well to maximize comfort level.

4. Don't Forget To Eat

In all the fun that you’re having, it’s important that you stop every now and then to eat something. With all the energy that you’re burning off from walking or swimming, your body is going to need food to replenish what you’ve lost, so that you can keep playing.

5. Take Breaks

Feel yourself getting too hot? Take a break from the sun and step into the shade. Allow your body to cool down while watching a show at Silver Dollar City or while lounging in a cabana at White Water. While summer is all about fun in the sun, take those breaks so you can enjoy the sun even more!
