The Christmas Pickle

Have you ever heard of the Christmas pickle? In this quirky Christmas tradition, a pickle-shaped ornament is hidden somewhere on the tree. According to legend, the first to find the pickle on Christmas morning will receive a year of good fortune, or in some cases even an extra gift from Santa Claus.

While most Americans believe that this tradition was imported to U.S. by German immigrants in the mid-19th century, its actual origins are more uncertain. Regardless of where it started, we think this fun tradition is a great addition to any Christmas celebration!

The craftsmen at Silver Dollar City’s Hazel’s Blown Glass agree and they’ve been producing some amazing hand-blown glass pickles that will add a little lighthearted holiday fun to your tree! Stop by and see these beautifully crafted ornaments for yourself.
